About Us

Who We Are We would like to introduce our selves. We are Cambridge Floor Sanding Ltd. A family run business, headed by myself, Roy Kelly who has been in the floor sanding business for over 30 years. As well as running one of the most successful Domestic floor sanding businesses in the UK, i also supply and advises the floor sanding trade and am very well-known with all the main supplies of floor sanding products as I am a distributor for many of them. For example, Junckers, we have been appointed as Approved Maintenance & Flooring Contractors, which means we can carry out all work on your existing Junckers floor and your 25-year guarantee will be honoured by Junckers. We are also recommended contactors for Bona, Granwax and  Osmo. The list of our customer is extensive and if you wish to contact them or arrange a visit to take a look at our work or to discuss our professionalism, then please E-mail and I will be pleased to supply you with as many local contacts as I can so you can see for yourself. The Floor Sanding Process The floor sanding process is 98% Dust Free. We will arrive around 8.00am in the morning, or a time to suit yourselves. (to be discussed). The floor will be sanded with various grit sizes to achieve a smooth and flat finish. We will fix, fill and repair any boards that need work. We will discuss with you at the time which boards you want to replace or fix. We hold antique boards in stock. We generally start off from a 36 grit, working our way through the different sizes and ending up on a 80/100 grit. All the corners and edges are done with different machines to make sure they are extremely clean. We then use a 4-head flexi orbital sander to achieve the maximum smoothness of the floor. The boards are scrapped in between the joints to clean out dust and dirt which will have accumulated over the years. We then apply a primer coat to seal the floor. We will leave this to cure overnight, but it will be dry within 3 hours so you can walk on in socks. A second coat will be applied which will take about 2 hours to dry. This coat will raise the grain so it will be buffed back with a mesh. A heavy final 3rd coat will be applied to finish the procedure. This will be dry (able to walk on in socks) in about 3 - 4 hours. However, the actual curing of the product takes 3 days, so we recommend not putting any furniture back for at least 3 days and no rugs on the floor for at least 2 weeks. We offer cleaning advice and can supply all the cleaning products you will need to maintain your floor. If looked after correctly there is no reason why the floor should not last at least 5 years before an extra coat need to be applied. We are fully insured and offer a completely professional floor sanding service. If you have any questions or want to discuss the quote in more detail, then please phone or E-mail and we will be more than pleased to answer any of your questions.

Construction or Renovation?

Construction or Renovation?

29th Jun 2020

When it’s come’s to construction and or refurbishment it’s difficult to keep track of all that work going on around you, in between trying to hold down a full time job especially if you have children. When the builders start smashing and building daily how do you keep up with it all? You could argue that the builder has your plan and he knows what he’s doing and I’ll leave him to it. But does he truly understand the vision running around in your mind?
