Access Counselling Services

Access Counselling, Counselling Education and Supervision Services, offers one to one, face to face, person centred and holistic counselling sessions to individuals who may be experiencing difficulties at any life stage and who may need support in gaining clarity and moving forward with a more positive and focussed outlook. Providing techniques and strategies for coping with life's issues, and especially for dealing with the fall out from a history of childhood abuse, including child sexual abuse, the approach incorporates and integrates several methods, including mindfulness techniques, gestalt and CBT if required. However the client remains at the heart of the relationship and the process is always client led, non judgemental and ethical. Nothing is ever forced upon the client as a way of doing things. Sessions usually last 50-60 minutes and are contracted for six weeks or six sessions at a time, with a review at the end to see how progress has been and whether any more intervention is required. Client and counsellor enter into this contract and an initial half hour session is used to overview the terms and conditions of it, and to look at client aims and expectations. Sessions cost between £25 and £30 each. The initial session is £15 Access Counselling Services also offer courses in counselling and related issues for those wishing to learn more about helpful and effective listening, counselling theory and/or personal development. It's possible that courses can be delivered to individuals via distance or online learning, or else a group may want to learn together in a classroom based environment. Organisations may wish to offer training for their employees or service users, and this can be arranged with tailor made courses to suit. Courses cost between £75 to £100 per candidate. Practicing or trainee counsellors may wish to access courses to develop their professional practice. This is called CPD. Access counselling services also offers supervision to trainee and practicing counsellors, for those on placements, those newly qualified or those who seek ongoing supervision for their existing practice. Supervision can be a useful way to overview and quality check your caseload and your ways of working in accordance with BACP guidelines for ethical practice.
